Men's Swimming and Diving Downed By Navy, 145-88

Annapolis, MD - The Colonials men's swimming and diving team dropped to a 1-2 record with a 145-88 loss to Navy (5-1) on Wednesday evening at Navy's Lejeune Hall. The Colonials won five events led by freshman Sean Flaherty (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough) who won two events for the second straight meet. The standout freshman was named last week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after notching the best A-10 times of the season in two events.
Flaherty won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.08 and then took first in the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:09.60. Junior Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) got back to his winning ways with a victory in the second event of the meet with an 8:40.88 finish in the 800 freestyle. Sophomore Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) won his second event of the season when he placed first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.14. The Colonials also won the 400 freestyle relay in a combined time of 3:38.79.
The Colonials men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in action this weekend when GW competes at East Carolina on Saturday. GW will face both East Carolina and Duke starting at 2:00 pm.
