Duquesne Shuts Out Women's Soccer, 2-0

PITTSBURGH, PA (Nov. 2) - Duquesne's Becky Barritt and Erin Marshall scored second half goals to lead the Dukes to a 2-0 victory over GW, this afternoon, Nov. 2, at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, PA. The loss drops the Colonials record to 7-10 overall and to 4-6 in the Atlantic 10. The Dukes improved to 4-10-3 overall and to 3-5-2 in the Atlantic 10.
Barritt broke a scoreless tie in the 69th minute when she took a pass from Marshall and came in on a breakaway against GW keeper Christine O'Malley (Davis, CA/Davis Senior). Barritt blasted it past O'Malley for her sixth goal of the season.
The Dukes sealed the victory when Marshall scored off of an indirect kick to record her first goal of the season to give the Dukes a 2-0 lead.
Duquesne goalkeeper Kristin Scharphorn made four saves to notch her third shutout of the season. O'Malley recorded four saves before being replaced by freshman Julia Guthrie (Durham, NC/W.G. Enloe) in the 74th minute.
The Colonials conclude their 2001 schedule on Sunday as they travel to Olean, NY to face the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 1:00 pm.
