Abigail Purches joined GW Athletics in 2026 as a Learning Specialist, bringing experience in academic support across multiple Division I programs.
Prior to GW, Purches served as an Athletic Academic Advisor at Austin Peay State University, working with football, men’s and women’s cross country/track & field and men’s and women’s tennis. Before that, she was an Assistant Athletic Academic Counselor at the University of Maryland, supporting men’s basketball, football and gymnastics.
Originally from Massachusetts, Purches earned her bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce University in 2022 and her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University in 2024. Her experience tutoring student-athletes at Franklin Pierce and interning with Vanderbilt Athletics inspired her passion for supporting student-athletes in their academic success and preparation for life beyond college.
