Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan has announced that Gabby Reynolds and Anne Bair have been named captains for the upcoming season. Reynolds is a Preseason First-Team All-Conference guard returning to GW for her third season in Foggy Bottom, while Bair is an All-Patriot League guard in her first year at GW with stops at Colgate and Manhattan.
"What stands out most about these two is that they are winners in every sense of the word," said Adeduntan. "They understand that success is about something bigger than themselves, and they genuinely value what it means to put the team first. Their selection as captains reflects the trust they have earned from those around them and the kind of people and teammates they are every day. As a head coach, trust is everything, and I have complete confidence that these two will lead with the team's best interests at heart. They are the kind of people who will find a way, whatever it takes, to help our team continue to grow, move forward, and be successful. I have no doubt they will lead by example, hold themselves and their teammates to a high standard, and consistently find ways to make our team better."
In 35 games last season, Reynolds led GW with 14.6 points per game and a 36.7% 3-point percentage. The 2024 Michigan Miss Basketball Award recipient has continued to elevate her game year-over-year after she was named to the A10 All-Rookie Team in 2024-25, the A10 All-Conference Third Team in 2025-26, and now is a preseason A10 All-Conference First Teamer. She was a key contributor in GW's deep postseason run a year ago, scoring 21, 26 and 20 points in GW's three WNIT wins.
Bair, a veteran guard with 86 college games under her belt, was a premier player in the Patriot League during 2024-25 before having her 2025-26 season cut short due to injury. Bair was an All-Patriot League Third Team player for Coach G at Colgate, after starting every game for the Raiders in 2024-25 and averaging 12.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, topping the conference in free-throw percentage by making 88.7% of her attempts from the line. Her career began at Manhattan, where she appeared in 50 games over two seasons.
Reynolds, Bair and the GW women's basketball team open the 2025-26 on Monday against UDC. The first 500 fans to arrive at Monday's game will receive a GW women's basketball schedule magnet. Tipoff at Charles E. Smith Center is scheduled for 5 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
