It was announced today by the Cayman Islands Classic that the George Washington women's basketball team will be part of the field for this year's event. The two-day hoops event will be held from Nov. 28-29 in the city of George Town, Grand Cayman.
Included in the heavy-hitting field are four teams from "Power Four" conferences, including Florida from the SEC, Georgia Tech and Miami from the ACC and Oklahoma State from the Big 12. St. John's (Big East), Memphis and Charlotte (American) round out the field of eight for the event. The event's official schedule and pairings are yet to be announced, but the Revolutionaries are guaranteed two games, with one played on each day of the classic.
"We're thrilled to compete in the Cayman Islands Classic this season," said GW Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan. "This year's field is full of competitive teams from top to bottom that will give us a real test before entering our conference schedule. Going to an event like this also gives our players an opportunity to be immersed in another culture, while also strengthening the relationships and bonds within our program by spending the Thanksgiving holiday together."
Coach G and her staff welcome back six returners, including 2025 A-10 All-Rookie selection Gabby Reynolds, as well as Sara Lewis and Kamari Sims, who were regulars in GW's starting lineup a year ago. The roster also features eight new faces, including five transfers and three incoming first-years.
The event will be held at John Gray Gymnasium in George Town. Travel packages are now available, along with all-tournament and booster passes. For more details, visit camanislandsclassic.com.
