The George Washington University Department of Athletics and women's basketball alumna Jonquel Jones have shared that the ceremony to retire her #35 GW jersey on December 6th will be rescheduled to a later date.
Jones is one of just 10 former student-athletes in GW Athletics' more than 125 years of history selected to have their jersey celebrated in 2025-26, joining NBA legend and Hall of Famer Red Auerbach and five-time Olympic medalist Elana Meyers Taylor, who have been previously recognized.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player is also a GW Athletics Hall of Famer, WNBA MVP, Finals MVP, Sixth Player of the Year and Most Improved Award winner. In May of 2025, Jones returned to the Nation's Capital to deliver the Commencement address at GW's graduation ceremony and receive an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from the university.
