Swimming & Diving Begins Mid-Season at NC State, Navy Invitationals

GW swimming and diving finished a competitive first day at both the Wolfpack Elite Invitational and Navy Invitational on Thursday. The Revolutionaries opened Day One with 27 finals appearances split between Greensboro and Annapolis.
Holden Wheeler led the way for diving at Navy with a third-place finish in the 1-meter dive (280.15), followed up closely by Ben Bradley in fourth (270.60), Michael Wood in fifth(269.30), and Christian Merturi in seventh (249.95).
Four individual B-Final appearances highlighted the GW swimmers' night in Greensboro. Colleen MacWilliams' victory in the 400-yard IM B-final (9th place overall) was the top finish for the Buff & Blue, as Ava Topolewski (13th/200-yard free), Andres Brooks (15th/400-yard IM) and Natalie Sens (16th/100-yard breast) also made appearances in a top-two heat. The best two relays for GW were a pair of 11th-place finishes in the men's and women's 200-yard freestyle relays to finish the night.
GW broke seven program top-10 times on Thursday, as Sens (3rd/100-yard breast), Matija Redjenovic (4th/200-yard free), Joselle Mensah (5th/100-breast), Alessandro Borsato (6th/100-yard breast), Topolewski (6th/200-yard free), Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan (8th/100-yard fly), and Eldad Zamir (10th/100-yard breast) each cracked into the GW record books.

Action tomorrow resumes at the Wolfpack Elite Invitational tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for prelims, and 5:30 p.m. for finals, which can be streamed on the GAC YouTube page. Diving continues in Annapolis at the Navy Invitational at 12:30 p.m. for prelims and 6:15 p.m. finals.
