For the second-consecutive day the George Washington water polo team cruised to an easy win in MAWPC play, this time dismissing Mercyhurst in Erie, Pennsylvania this morning in an 18-9 victory.
The convincing win allowed backup goalkeeper Connor Jermain to get ample time in the pool, and the sophomore sent away four Lakers' shots in the cage, in relief of Vasilije Marinkovic who got the start and had nine saves of his own.
On offense Yam Kabakov led the charge with four goals and a pair of assists, while rookie Italian Andrea Forno continued to shine with four goals of his own, alongside an assist. Forno was a menace all game long, as he also drew eight exclusions from the opposition.
The Revolutionaries' defense was stellar with 18 steals, as Adonis Vlassis and Antonio Florena each came up with four.
With a five-game winning streak to its credit, GW travels to Baltimore Thursday for a non-conference matchup with Johns Hopkins at 7:00 p.m.
