Volleyball Dropped by Dayton in Four

WASHINGTON – GW volleyball was looking for revenge on conference-leaders Dayton after losing in five on Saturday, and though GW won the first set, Dayton turned up the heat and claimed the next three sets to win, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED

GW and Dayton went back and forth to begin the match, as it was tied 11-11 midway through the first set, before GW rattled off a 7-2 run to take a commanding 18-13 lead which it rode to the finish, winning the first 25-21.

Dayton surged in the second set, taking the lead at 9-8 and not giving it back on its way to a 25-19 win.

The third set was the closest of the match with 14 ties and six lead changes. The teams found themselves in a race to score the final two, tied at 23-23, which Dayton won to win 25-23.

Dayton struck first in the fourth, taking an early six-point lead. The Revolutionaries battled, closing the gap to one at 19-18, but the seasoned Flyers tightened their operation to close the 25-19 win.

The Buff & Blue head to Davidson next weekend for a two-match series on Friday (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (6:00 p.m.). Friday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
