Three Revolutionaries named to All-Tournament Second Team
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The George Washington University water polo team captured third place at the MAWPC Championship on Sunday, smothering Wagner in a 15-5 win. The Revolutionaries close the 2024 season at 17-9.Â
The Revolutionaries built their lead quickly and never looked back. A 6-1 advantage in the first gave GW the early edge, and the Revolutionaries kept rolling in the second quarter, leading 13-2 at half and leaving little doubt in the second half.
GW's offense was slowed in the second half, scoring only twice, but the lead that GW built in the first half left plenty of breathing space as GW cruised to the 15-5 victory. The five goals allowed by GW's defense and goalkeepers were the least allowed by GW all season.
Antonio Florena and Adoniss Vlassis led the way with four goals each, while Leo Lueddemann and Kai De Orbeta had three goals apiece. Luca Castorina made 14 saves in the contest before being replaced by Connor Jermain in the fourth quarter, who made one save.
Three Revolutionaries picked up MAWPCÂ All-Tournament Second Team honors following the conclusion of the tournament: Castorina, Vlassis and Yam Kabakov.
