Womble tallies 20 kills to lead GW offense
PITTSBURGH – GW volleyball picked up its first Atlantic 10 victory of the season with a 3-2 win at Duquesne on Friday, 14-25, 27-25, 25-21, 28-25, 15-5.

GW moved to 4-1 this season when going five sets with its opponent. Liv Womble led the GW offense, tying her career-high with 20 kills and just four errors behind a .320 efficiency. MC Daubendiek registered 12 kills and Salem Yohannes and Tierra Porter added nine apiece.
Amina Robinson got the nod at libero for the Buff & Blue, scooping up a career-high 27 digs to go along with six assists. Penelope Hiepler tallied 13 digs, her fourth double-figure outing of the season.
Grace Allread and Dilara Elmacioglu continued to split the setting duties, recording 27 and 20 assists, respectively, to a GW offense that produced 58 kills with a .200 hitting percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Duquesne out-hit GW 14 kills to eight to take the opening set.
Duquesne rattled off three quick points to open set two and would maintain a lead until a six-point scoring run by GW sparked a comeback to even the set at 21 after the Buff & Blue trailed 21-15. Four of GW's final six points were kills, helping win set two and tie the match at one set apiece.
11 ties began set three before GW could create separation at 15-11. The Buff & Blue overcame a three-point rally by the Dukes, rattling off four-straight points to make it set-point for GW. A kill from Brittany Myers gave the visitors the 2-1 set lead.
Duquesne never ceased its lead in set four, powered by a 16-kill performance that forced a 15-point match-deciding set.
Elmacioglu stayed behind the service line for nine-straight points to help GW to a dominant 15-5 set five victory. Elmacioglu tallied two of her team-leading three services aces in the final set to help her team to its first A-10 victory of the season. Nine of GW's 15 points were kills in the final frame.
