GW tallies most A-10 wins since 2014
RICHMOND, Va. – GW volleyball finished its regular season in dramatic fashion in a 3-2, reverse-sweep victory at VCU on Sunday, 22-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 17-15.
It's GW's seventh five-set win this season and fourth five-set win when falling behind 2-0.
With its 11 wins in A-10 conference action this season, GW matches its best season since 2014, when the Buff & Blue also recorded 11 A-10 wins.
GW heads to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship next weekend at St. Louis. GW's first match will be on Friday, with full Championship coverage available on ESPN+.

Brittany Myers led the GW offense with 16 kills, Salem Yohannes added 15 and Liv Womble tallied 13. Yohannes recorded a career-high six service aces and added 16 digs defensively for her second-straight double-double and third of the season.
Maeve Loughran tallied a career-high 20 assists and Grace Allread led with 23 helpers and 15 digs. Bella Bowman scooped up 24 digs to lead GW's backline. Tierra Porter registered eight blocks at the net, and Addie Feek and Myers added five apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A match-high 10 ties came in the opening set, but VCU broke the tie at 19-19 and tallied four kills to help to the one set lead.
An early four-point scoring run by VCU proved to be enough for the Rams to take the lead for the remainder of the set. GW and VCU each put down 12 kills, but the Rams were more efficient, swinging at a .212 clip to GW's .132.
GW limited VCU to a -0.029 hitting percentage in set three, allowing just six kills. The Buff & Blue took advantage of the lack of offense, putting down a team-high 13 kills to answer back to win set three, 25-19.
With a match-high 15 kills in set four, GW took down VCU 25-22. The Rams evened the set at 22, but GW put down a pair of kills and used its 11th block on the day to push the match to a 15-point deciding set.
Seven ties highlighted set five, and despite VCU's 11-kill set, GW moved to match point twice before ultimately securing the regular season finale victory.
