1/24/2022 1:23:00 PM | General, Men's Basketball
First career double-double keyed victory at Rhode Island
Name: Hunter Dean
Sport: Men's Basketball
Year: Junior
Hometown: Mandeville, La.
Major: Applied Science & Technology
Dean enjoyed a breakout week while helping the Buff & Blue to a pair of double-digit comeback victories. Thrust into the role of GW's primary post due to injuries, Dean averaged 8.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 2.7 bpg while shooting 78.5% in three games, culminating in his first career double-double.
Dean was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor in Monday's victory over George Mason, while also coming up with a critical steal and dunk sequence in the Colonials' comeback. He then grabbed 11 rebounds on Wednesday at Saint Joseph's, a career-best, while swatting a career-high five shots.
The highlight of the week, though, came in Saturday's victory over Rhode Island when Dean broke through with 15 points, 11 boards and three blocks. The 15-point output nearly doubled his previous career high (eight) as he knocked down 6-of-8 from the floor. For his effort, he was awarded "George's Chain of Command" as the player of the game.
