Leaders in higher education and trailblazing coaches to mentor underrepresented groups in collegiate athletics
WASHINGTON – George Washington men's basketball head coach Jamion Christian and his coaching staff will host 360 Mentoring, a free, virtual coaching town hall, on Wednesday, July 1 from 9am-9pm on CoachTube.com.
360 Mentoring is a broad-based symposium that will bring some of the brightest and most experienced minds to a platform where they can share their knowledge with people of color. 360 Mentoring will feature a variety of hour-long panels, giving participants the opportunity to hear from leaders in higher education, including prominent Black coaches, sport administrators, and representatives from search firms, plus other industry experts.
"We all have been searching for what we can do to improve and be the best versions of ourselves for others," said Christian. "For years I have felt like there was a void in knowledge being shared across our sport. I've been captivated with the idea of doing an event that would allow all of our knowledge to be in one room. Now, because of COVID-19, we aren't able to host this event on campus as we previously wanted, but that's not going to stop us from trying to share the wealth of knowledge that we have. We wanted to build a comprehensive event that would showcase the strength we have around the country and share the knowledge that is needed for everyone to thrive and lift each other as we rise."
Panelists will address issues including, but not limited to, overcoming challenges, preparation, combating stigmas, the search process, student-athlete empowerment and the state of black coaches in today's game.
Interested coaches can register for 360 Mentoring here. Other high-profile speakers and moderators are still being confirmed.
