Beyond the Bio: Brianna Barry
12/22/2020 10:04:00 AM | Women's Volleyball, My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
This edition features volleyball assistant coach Brianna Barry. A former All-American and overseas pro, Bri is in her second season on staff in Foggy Bottom.
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
Either exploring D.C. on my scooter Nimbus or curling up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket to watch the Great British Baking Show.
Â
If I was an animal, I would be?
A giraffe - their height speaks to meÂ
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm obsessed with doughnuts! You can have savory or sweet ones, so I'd be set for life.
Â
My favorite place I've ever been is?
Ireland would be my top choice. When I played professionally overseas, I got the chance to visit numerous countries, but my family's historical ties to Ireland and my love for all things Irish makes it No. 1.
Â
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
I would love to have coffee with Walt Disney. Being as obsessed with Disney as I am, I'd love to just hear him talk about how he created one of the most magical places in the world.Â
Â
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
Softball coach. Softball was a big part of my life growing up, so I'd love to see how the game is taught at a collegiate level. I love all the cheers and definitely the big bowsÂ
The person I'm most inspired by is?
My mom. She's one of the kindest, most caring people I know, and I hope to be half the woman she is when I get older. She's taught me how to smile through the hard times and be confident in everything I do.
Â
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
Movie:Â Love any of the Marvel movies. And I'm a huge Disney nerd!
TV Show:Â Criminal Minds and Grey's Anatomy
My top #OnlyAtGWÂ moment was?
Taking team pictures by the Lincoln Memorial and having the National Mall be the backdrop for some incredible photos that will last a lifetime.Â
Â
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
Gymnastics! As I've been tall my entire life, the idea of being a gymnast was never a thought in my mind. I think it would be awesome to be able to fling myself around on the uneven bars and do those awesome skills.
