The Colonials open their home schedule on Nov. 9 vs. Howard
WASHINGTON -- The GW men's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule on Wednesday and it includes a home opener vs. District foe Howard, a trip to the Southeastern Conference's South Carolina, and a three-game stint at the Island of the Bahamas Showcase.
GW starts the season with four games against local schools, opening on the road at Towson on Tuesday, Nov. 5. An eventful home-opener weekend will include the game vs. Howard on Saturday, Nov. 9, as well as the Hall of Fame induction of two GW Basketball all-time greats in Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Mike Hall the prior evening.
American University comes across town to visit the Charles E. Smith Center on Tuesday, Nov. 12, and Morgan State makes the short trip down I-95 on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The Colonials will then be treated to three games in the Island of the Bahamas Showcase, which kicks off on Friday, Nov. 22 vs. Kansas City. The semifinals will be played on Saturday and the final is set for Sunday, with the rest of the field consisting of 2019 NCAA Tournament participant Liberty, East Carolina, Evansville, Milwaukee, Morgan State and Rice.
Continuing a long tradition of playing high-major programs, GW will challenge itself with a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks on Sunday, Dec. 1. The matchup opens a three-game series between the programs, with USC set to visit GW in 2020 before the Colonials go back to Columbia in 2021.
GW is home for four straight games in December: Boston University (Wednesday, Dec. 4), Delaware (Saturday, Dec. 7), defending Ivy League Champion Harvard (Saturday, Dec. 21) and Longwood (Saturday, Dec. 28). The Colonials wrap up their non-conference slate on New Year's Eve at Vermont, which won the America East Regular Season and Tournament Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.
Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting getGWtix.com, calling the box office at 202-99-GWTIX, or emailing tickets@gwu.edu. Game times and television broadcast details will be announced at a later date.
