TIPPING OFF: The George Washington women's basketball team concludes its regular-season home schedule on Saturday when it hosts George Mason at the Charles E. Smith Center for Senior Day. Tip off is set for 2:00 p.m.
SUPER SENIORS: The outstanding senior class of Shannon Cranshaw, Hannah Schaible, Caira Washington and grad student Lexi Martins will be honored prior to the game. The quartet has helped lead the Colonials to 96 wins over the past four seasons with three postseason appearances, two NCAA tournament trips, two Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championships and a pair of Atlantic 10 Tournament titles.
LAST TIME OUT: GW withstood a second-half rally by St. Bonaventure before eventually closing out strong for a 63-57 win on Wednesday night at the Smith Center. Martins led all scorers with 21 points while junior Kelli Prange chipped in 13 points in 18 minutes off the bench.
STREAKING: With the win on Friday night GW now has its longest win streak of the season at five consecutive games dating back to February 1.
The Colonials are limiting opponents to 50.2 points during the streak and .337 shooting from the field.
Additionally, GW has not trailed in a game since the 9:01 mark of the third quarter on February 1, a span of 17 consecutive quarters without facing a deficit.
RIVALRY RENEWED: GW aims for the season sweep in the #RevRivalry against George Mason and the 10th straight win in the series dating back to Jan 2014.
The Colonials won the first Revolutionary Rivalry meeting this season, 79-71, in overtime on January 11 in Fairfax, Virginia. The Patriots hit a desperation three-pointer with under a second to play to force OT before Schaible erupted for 13 points in the extra session to lead the Colonials to victory. Schaible finished with a career-high tying 20 points to pace five Colonials in double figures.
NOTABLE: GW is 12-1 this season when holding opponents to 60 points or less and 11-1 when scoring 70 points or more ... Schaible needs just four rebounds to move past Brooke Wilson '14 into 14th place on GW's career-rebounding list ... Martins is averaging team-bests of 16.4 points and 8.4 rebounds in conference games ... sophomore Mei-Lyn Bautista boasts a 3.1 assist-to-turnover ratio over the last seven games and ranks fourth overall in the conference (2.0) in the category.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON: The Patriots are 4-5 in games played since the first meeting and enter Saturday's game with a 13-14 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the Atlantic 10.
Kara Wright paces the Patriots at 14.9 points per game and is also the team's leading rebounder with 6.3 boards per contest.
SERIES HISTORY: GW has won nine games in a row over George Mason to extend the all-time series margin to 20-8, which includes a 12-2 record in home games at the Smith Center.
