WASHINGTON -- The George Washington women's soccer squad battled to the last minute of play, but were edged by Saint Louis, 1-0, when a Billikens' header off the corner kick found the back of the net with 36 seconds left on the clock.
The score stayed at zero for the first 89 minutes, with each back line holding strong against the opponents' attack. With the shots even at eight late in the contest, redshirt senior goalkeeper Miranda Horn made a big save with four minutes left on the clock before the Billikens were able to find the goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 89th Minute -- With 36 seconds left on the clock, Alli Klug headed the ball off of the corner kick and into the back of the net. (SLU 1, GW 0)
NOTEWORTHY
- GW was able to put six of its eight shots on goal.
- Senior forward Brittany Cooper led the Colonials front line with three shots, while midfielders Sofia Pavon and Alexis Williams had two apiece.
- Miranda Horn made four saves on the day.

The Buff and Blue will return to action on Thursday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m. to host Saint Joseph's at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
