Welch earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors on Monday and adds COTW honors after playing stout defense in a pair of wins over the weekend.
The freshman libero recorded a program-record 34 digs in Friday's 3-1 win over Duquesne. It stands as the most digs in a four-set match in program history, besting the previous mark of 32 set by Sarah Hokom (2002) and Jessica Vesey (2004).
She followed that performance with 16 digs in Saturday's 3-1 win over La Salle. For the weekend she averaged an impressive 6.25 digs per set.
