WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's soccer program is set to host its first-ever televised contest on Sunday, Sept. 4, when Cox Sports Television (CST) broadcasts Arkansas' visit to the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus for a 12:30 p.m. match.
"We couldn't be more excited to be a part of the first televised game on GW's Mount Vernon Campus," said head coach Sarah Barnes. "We face a challenging opponent in Arkansas, from the SEC, who will push us to be a better team this season. We would love to have a huge, rowdy crowd on Sept. 4, to officially welcome the Razorbacks to Washington, D.C. There is no better way to lift your team up than with an energetic crowd that is pulling for you - the fans are who create the home field advantage."
The match will be part of the Colonials' annual Kickin' It at the Vern weekend, which includes a free barbecue for students at the start of the game.
Not only will the game mark the first home televised event in program history, but will mark the first televised soccer match on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The meeting between the Colonials and Razorbacks will mark yet another first for the day.
Launched in 2002, CST is available in 18 states and has a reach of 5.5 million viewers.
