WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington women's soccer had two student-athletes selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, as announced by A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade on Wednesday. Senior Jillian Morgan was named to the All-Conference Second Team while freshman Alex Neal was named to the All-Rookie squad.
"Jillian is the consummate competitor," said head coach Tanya Vogel. "She is one of the most driven athletes and has worked hard to earn this award. We are very proud of Jillian and pleased that she was recognized by the conference."
Morgan moved to the back line for the Colonials this season and started in all 18 matches. She was a big part of the defensive line that held opponents to a 1.10 goals-against-average. Morgan completed her collegiate career with 74 starts, three goals and two assists for eight points.
"Alex has that innate ability to find the back of the net in key situations," said Vogel. "We are excited for her to be recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference coaches and look forward to her continued progress on the field for GW."
Neal finished the season tied for second on the team in scoring with three goals for the Colonials. The Lake Villa, IL, native scored twice against Temple (Oct. 1) and the game-winner over Delaware in the Blue Hen Classic (Sept 19). She was also named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice this season and voted to the A-10 Preseason All-Rookie team.
