GW Coach Joe McKeown
The team had another impressive performance in the second half. What are your thoughts?
"Dayton is a much better team this year. Cara Wright is a big-time player and she proved it tonight. We did a good job on her late in the game. It was just a hard-fought conference game, which is what we'll see during the next two months."
On Jessica Simmonds and Kim Beck haivng double-double performances
"Jessica was a great player tonight, and she took on the challenge of taking on the inside game of Dayton. And that 3-point play at the end was huge. But we struggled against their zone with 3-point shots. We need to get Kim on track from out there. She had 12 assists, but we need her to take shots."
What do you expect Sunday against Saint Joseph's?
"It's always a tough game up there, in a tough place to play. It'll be a battle. They beat North Carolina State and Kansas State; they're much improved too. Our league is tough top to bottom; you can't take anyone for granted. And when you're GW, everybody takes their best shot at you."
GW Senior Jessica Simmonds
You had a great all-around game, which helped break things open in the second half. What did you do to turn the game around?
"I had a lot of composure today, because I knew they were coming after me. My teammates realized that two, so they were always in a position where I could get the ball to them."
Is this game a good way to start A10 Conference play?
"We came out slow and kind of dead in the first half. In the second half, our freshmen came in and stepped it up. Everyone hit open shots. We really came out and played hard."
