Postgame quotes
Coach Joe McKeown
Jessica Adair contributed to a big second half; how do you evaluate her play overall?
"It is what we expect from her. She's been hurt and had to sit out the entire first semester. She has all the talent in the world; we just have to get her out on the floor. Today was a big step; now we have to get her some quality minutes."
Why did Jessica Adair start the second half?
"I wanted to see if we could get some scoring from down low--someone who could actually turn around and shoot over people. We wanted to take away the double teams, and I think we did that. We'll have to see how it goes [whether we do that again]. There are a lot of games ahead."
You've gotten seven wins out of a very hard non-conference schedule. How has this prepared you for the start of conference play?
"To come out of our non-conference schedule at 7-4 is a pretty good sign. But this record against the schedule we played won't mean anything unless we play well in the conference because everyone will be gunning for us."
You've had a lot of injuries in the first 11 games; is the team healthy for the start of conference play?
"We're getting close. Lisa Steele is still dealing with an injury. If we can get her back, that will take a lot of pressure off the rest of the team."
Freshman Center Jessica Adair
What was your focus coming into the game?
"Rebounding and boxing out. We had a big problem with that against NC State, and we wanted to improve on that tonight."
What's your assessment of the team as you begin conference play?
"I think we're a very good team. We still have some minor adjustments that we need to make, but overall, I think we are in good shape."
