GW Swimming and Diving To Begin A-10 Championships

The George Washington University men's and women's swimming and diving teams begin competition Wednesday in the Atlantic 10 Championships at Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY. St. Bonaventure University hosts the four-day meet that includes 40 preliminary and final events.
The Colonials are sending 32 athletes to compete with a number of them expected to place towards the top in their respective events.
Sophomore Sean Flaherty (Scarborough, ME / Scarborough) will enter the meet ranked first in the 1,000-yd freestyle (9:40.40) and tied for first with teammate Bryan Ferretti (Newton, PA/Council Rock) in the 1,650-yd freestyle (16:15.29).
Junior Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) is currently ranked second in the conference in the 200-yd backstroke (2:02.49) and third in the 100-yd backstroke (57.01 seconds). Diver Katura Horton-Perinchief (Sandys, Bermuda / University of Texas) is tops in both the one-meter (266.35 points) and three-meter (511.05 points) events.
The University of Massachusetts is seeking to win its fifth straight men's title while the University of Richmond attempts to take its fourth straight women's crown.
The championship commences at 4:30 pm on Wednesday with the women's one-meter diving competition, followed by the finals of the men's and women's 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays at 6:30 pm. The championship continues at 10:30 am on Thursday with the time trials, followed by the finals at 6:30 pm. The same schedule will be followed on Friday and Saturday. Results will be posted at the end of competition for each day at www.atlantic10.org/sports/swimming.
