"I was extremely pleased with our results from today," GW coach Steve Peterson said. "Anytime you come in to race with four crews and leave winning three events, you've done a good job. I think that coming in as a favorite to win the events puts a little added pressure on the athletes, but they handled it well."
"I think the racing done by all of the crews over this long weekend will really benefit them later on in the season. To me, racing, besides being fun, is the best type of practice you can have. I think all of our crews are faster because of this weekend. Monday morning they can sleep in...they earned it."
Saturday, April 13 is the 15th Annual GW Invitational Crew Classic. The Crew Classic has become the largest collegiate rowing regatta in the DC area and involves crews from Virginia, Temple, Columbia, Tennessee, Navy and Georgetown, just to name a few. Racing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Washington Harbor.
