Swimming And Diving Downed By Pirates

Washington, DC - GW men's and women's swimming and diving took a loss to a sizeable squad from East Carolina. The Colonials were beaten by the Pirates 140-81 for the men and 140-97 for the women. The Colonials started strong with an impressive win in the women's 400-yd Medley Relay in a winning time of 3:55.41 topping three ECU relay teams.
The Colonials swept the three meter diving when Kelly Danylyshyn-Adams (La Jolla, CA/La Jolla) scored a 222.83 and Robert Stuart (Greenville, DE/Alexis I. DuPont) scored a 251.33.
The Colonials had strong individual swimming performances on the women's side from Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/ James I. O'Neill) and Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central). Dubyel won the 200-yd butterfly in 2:09.22 while Moss smoked the field in the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 2:05.55 almost five seconds faster than the next best time.
On the men's side, the Colonials swept the 200-yd breaststroke led by Mark Adams (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) who won the event in a time of 2:10.38. Joshua Roberts (Memphis, TN/White Station) placed second with 2:14.61 while Bryan Michels (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) took third.
