Women Swim To Strong Win, 139-88 Over La Salle

Washington, DC - GW women's swimming and diving proved dominant over La Salle in a 139-88 win on Saturday. The Colonials women won all but one event to win their season's second straight dual meet. The strong squad also won the Potomac Relays to start the season, placing first out of seven competing teams. On the men's side, the Colonials came up just short losing 124-116.
Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) continued her strong rookie season with two wins as well as helping GW set the tone as a member of the 400-yd Medley Relay which won the meet's opening event with a time of 4:00.51. Moss finished first in the 200-yd individual medley in 2:10.26 while winning the 200-yd backstroke in 2:05.80. Kirsten Rasmuson (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel), who swam with Moss in the Relay, also notched two wins. Rasmuson's wins came in the 50-yd freestyle which she won in 25.38 and the 200-yd breastroke which she won in 2:25.86. The women locked up the victory by winning the 400-yd freestyle relay in 3:40.68 in the day's final event.
Other top performers for for the Colonials women included Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley), Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/ JamesI. O'Neill), Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster), and diver Kelly Danylyshyn-Adams (La Jolla, CA/La Jolla). Boland won the 200-yd freestyle in 1:55.23, and the 100-yd freestyle in 54.01. Dubyel won the 200-yd butterfly in 2:11.27. Fagley won the 500-yd freestyle in 5:08.05. Danylyshyn-Adams won both diving events taking first in the one meter with a score of 2:11.27 and a 246.075 score in the three meter.
The men's top performer was Sean Kernan (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry) who won the 50-yd freestyle in 22.19 and the 100-yd freestyle in 48.35. Other men's first place finishes were won by Mark Adams (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) 200-yd breastroke 2:11.36, David Dillehay (Gallatin, TN/Gallatin) 500-yd freestyle 4:50.38, Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) 1,000-yd freestyle 9:55.62. Both men's relay teams also won with a time of 3:35.06 in the 400 medley relay and a time of 3:15.44 in the 400 freestyle relay.
