GW's Molly Hueller Named Second Team All-America

WASHINGTON, DC (June 19, 2001) -- Sophomore Molly Hueller (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater Area) has been named to the Division I All-America Rowing second team for 2001 by the the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Hueller became eligible for the All-America team by virtue of her selection to one of five All-Region First Teams selected in May.
Student-athletes were chosen based on the following criteria: Varsity Eight Record (all nominees are required to have raced in the Varsity Eight a minimum of 75% of the boats total races up to May 1, 2001), Strength of Schedule, Nomination Rank (the rank order of nominees as chosen by the nominating coach), Coach's comments and 2K ergometer score.
Hueller was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team by the CRCA along with Colonials senior Maria Bogen (Maple Grove, MN/Osseo Senior). Bogen was named to the second team.
Hueller, who rows in the stroke position of the women's varsity eight, was named the 2001 MVP for GW Women's Crew.
As a team, the George Washington University women's crews placed second at the 2001 Verizon Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championships April 28 on the Cooper River in Collingswood, NJ. Hueller's varsity eight, however, won the gold medal at the A-10s.
For the second straight year, GW head coach Steve Peterson, now in his fifth year at GW, was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in a vote of the Conference's head coaches.
