Crew Christens "The Wedge"

Members of the GW Community turned out on March 15 to witness the christening of the new varsity men's shell called "The Wedge" at Thompson Boat Center.
The ceremony, attended by George Washington University President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, was followed by a 1000-meter sprint race between the men's varsity and junior varsity crews on the Potomac River from Key Bridge to Washington Harbor.
The new shell is named in honor and gratitude of former Princeton University oarsman Peter "Wedge" Schroeder whose generous financial contribution made the purchase possible. 'Wedge' Schroeder is father of GW varsity oarsman Belden Schroeder.
