Swimming & Diving Splits With Old Dominion

WASHINGTON, DC (Dec. 1) - Freshman Kirsten Rasmuson (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) won three events and sophomore Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster Academy) won two as the George Washington women's swimming & diving team defeated Old Dominion 138-92, this afternoon, Dec. 1, at Smith Center. The George Washington men's team captured eight of 13 events, but were narrowly defeated by the Old Dominion men's team, 125-109.
Rasmuson continued her stellar rookie campaign as she swam to victory in the 50 and 100-yd freestyles as well as the 200-yd breaststroke. She swam a :25.38 to win the 50-yd free, a :55.41 to win the 100-yd free and a 2:24.13 in the 200-yd breaststroke to complete her day. Fagley won the 200 and 500-yd freestyles with times of 1:58.52 and 5:13.30, respectively. Other individual winners for the women's team included senior Jocelyn Finch (Olympia, WA/Olympia) and sophomores Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/James I. O'Neill) and Crystal Freeman (Ft. Dix, NJ/Holy Cross). Finch won the 200-yd individual medley with a time of 2:14.04. Dubyel and Freeman won the 200-yd butterfly and 1000-yd freestyle with times of 2:10.19 and 10:49.13, respectively.
On the men's side, sophomores Ryan White (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy H.S.) and Andrew De Sorbo (Salisbury, NC/Salisbury), along with freshman Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock) all won two events apiece. White won the 200 and 500-yd freestyles with times of 1:44.56 and 4:43.27. De Sorbo captured the 200-yd individual medley with a time of 2:02.49 and the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 1:59.53. Ferretti, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Nov. 12, won the 1000-yd freestyle with a time of 9:54.30 and the 200-yd butterfly with a time of 1:59.20.
