Swimming & Diving Splits With James Madison

WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 27) - Sophomore Kristen Fagley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Westminster Academy) and freshman Kirsten Rasmuson (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) won two swimming events and junior Kelly Danylyshyn-Adams (La Jolla, CA/La Jolla) won both diving events to lead the George Washington women's swimming & diving team to a 133-110 victory over the James Madison Dukes, this afternoon, Oct. 27, at Smith Center.
Fagley, the Rookie Performer of the Meet at the 2001 Atlantic 10 Championships, captured the 200-yd freestyle with a time of 1:57.51 and the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 5:09.33. Rasmuson, competing in her first collegiate meet, swam to victory in both the 50-yd freestyle (:24.97) and the 100-yd freestyle (:54.74). Danylyshyn-Adams won the three meter diving competition with a score of 261 and the one meter diving competition with a score of 253.95. Other individual winners for the women's team included seniors Laura Clemens (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and Nell Friar (Oak Ridge, TN/Oak Ridge). Clemens won the 200-yd backstroke with a time of 2:11.23 while Friar captured the 200-yd breaststroke with a time of 2:25.88. Fagley, Clemens and Friar also teamed with sophomore Ruth Dubyel (West Point, NY/James I. O'Neill) to win the 400-yd medley relay with a time of 4:00.24.
The James Madison men's team beat the Colonials men's team by a score of 123-93. JMU sophomore Jeff Hicks won the 200-yd freestyle (1:43.68) and the 200-yd backstroke (1:55.90) to lead the Dukes. Among the bright spots for GW were freshman Bryan Ferretti (Newtown, PA/Council Rock), junior David Dillehay (Gallatin, TN/Gallatin) and sophomores Ryan White (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy H.S.) and Rob Stuart (Greenville, De/Alexis I. DuPont). Ferretti won the 1000-yd freestyle with a time of 9:41.44, Dillehay won the 200-yd butterfly with a time of 1:59.24, White won the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 4:43.55 and Stuart captured the three meter diving competition with a score of 221.475.
