Friar Earns Second Atlantic 10 Swimming Honor

WASHINGTON, DC (Jan. 23) - Junior Nell Friar (Oak Ridge, TN/Oak Ridge H.S.) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Performer of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Jan. 23. Friar also won the award on November 21 for her performance in the Nike Invitational at the University of North Carolina.

This past Saturday against UMBC and Massachusetts, Friar won the 100-yd breaststroke event with a time of 1:07.09. She also finished second in the 200-yd breaststroke with a time of 2:25.12. On Wednesday against Maryland, Friar finished third in the 100-yd breaststroke with a time of 1:08.06. Friar now owns the two fastest times in the 100-yd breaststroke in the Atlantic 10 this season. She also has swam two of the top four times in the the 200-yd breaststroke in the conference this season.

GW's next competition is Saturday, January 27 as the teams host George Mason University beginning at 11:00 a.m.
