Fortuny To Compete In Olympics

Alvaro Fortuny, a senior on the George Washington men's swimming team,
will represent Guatemala in the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney,
Australia. A native of Guatemala City, Fortuny will compete in the
100-meter and 200-meter breaststrokes. Fortuny is the school record
holder in the 100-yard breaststroke. At the 2000 Atlantic 10
Championships, Fortuny placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke and
third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
He joins former Colonials Chad Senior (Modern Pentathlon) and Linda Miller (women's rowing - heavyweight eight) in Sydney.
