Former Colonials Swimmer Qualifies for 2000 Olympics

WASHINGTON, DC (Apr. 21, 2000) - Former GW swimmer Chad Senior has
qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, in the
modern pentathlon. The modern pentathlon involves shooting, swimming,
fencing, horseback riding and running.
Senior, a native of Ft. Myers, FL, graduated from GW in 1997 and was a four-year letterwinner as a backstroker and distance freestyler on the Colonials swim team. He still holds the school records for the 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle events. He set the 1,000-yd freestyle record (9:20.20) as a freshman in 1993 and the 1,650 freestyle record (15:36.48) as a senior in '97.
