Men's Crews Sweep Northeastern Colleges

WORCESTER, MA -- The George Washington University men's crews traveled to Worcester, MA, on April 8 where the team swept Colby College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), the University of Massachusetts and Wesleyan University in strong headwind conditions on Lake Quinsigamond. Saturday's victory improved the GW men's varsity crew record to 12-1. Also racing Saturday were the Second Varsity 8 and the Freshman 8.

"These results further indicate the improvements the crews have been making this year," said first-year GW men's coach Gene Kininmonth. "It is a strong statement of the depth of our program when all three crews can win on the same day."

The GW men's varsity crew is currently ranked 23rd in the NCAA/US Rowing National Coaches Poll released April 5. The next poll will be released on Wednesday, April 12.
