Swimming & Diving Splits with UMBC in Baltimore

Skinner, a senior freestyler from Liberty, MO, captured the 1,000 freestyle in 10:29.22 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.98. Smith took first in the 100 freestyle in 54:25 and also won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.63.
Colonials sophomore Nell Friar captured first place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.05.
On the men's side, senior Tim Champney won the 200 backstroke (1:53.36) while Dave Simoneti took the 100 butterfly in 53:55.
GW junior diver Jeremy Hoders won both the one-meter (238.05) and three-meter (234.9) events while Lynne McCormick captured the women's three-meter dive with a score of 213.56. The Colonials' next meet is at the University of Richmond on Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m. before the Bell Atlantic-Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 17-19 at Buffalo, NY.
