Terrapins Defeat GW Swimming and Diving Teams

On the men's side, senior Tim Champney (Seminole, FL/Cypress Lake) finished first in two individual events. Champney won the 200-y free in 1:53.40 and the 200-y backstroke in 2:05.15. Senior Juan Bocanegra (Miami, FL/Gulliver Prep Academy) won the 200-y IM in a time of 2:08.43. Junior Jeremy Hoders (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) placed first in the 1M Diving event with a score of 250.42. The men fall to 4-2 on the season.
On the women's side, junior Lynne McCormick (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) claimed first place in the 1M diving event, as well, posting a score of 254.02. GW's other win came in the last event of the day, as the team of Shannon Lynch (Medford, NJ/Lenape), Rachel Smith (New Providence, NJ/New Providence), Jocelyn Finch (Olympia, WA/Olympia High) and Ashley Orchard (Tamarac, FL/Pine Crest) won the 400-y free relay in a time of 4:07.14. The women are now 4-3 on the season.
GW returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 22, as it hosts James Madison beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Smith Center.
