Champney Competes at NCAA Swimming Championship

WASHINGTON, DC (March 28, 1999) -- George Washington University swimmer, Tim Champney, competed in the NCAA Men's Swimming Championship, March 25-27, in Indianapolis, IN.
Champney, a junior from Seminole, FL/Cypress Lake, is the first GW male swimmer to ever qualify for the championships. Champney finished 27th in the 100 yd. backstroke with a :49.43. In the 200 yd. backstroke, Champney placed 21st with a new school record time of 1:46.14. He had previously set the school record in the event at the Atlantic 10 Championships last month. He was the A-10 Champion in both backstroke events and was honored as the 1999 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer for his performances at the meet.
