Kininmonth Named Assistant Crew Coach

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 13) -- Gene Kininmonth has been named to the GW Crew coaching staff, head coach Steve Peterson has announced.

Kininmonth, a 1990 graduate of Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, will be responsible for coaching the GW men's varsity crew. He spent the past year as the head coach for the men's varsity crew at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also was the head coach for men's varsity crew at UCLA during the 1991-92 season where he guided the Bruins' men's varsity eight to a second-place finish in the Pac-10 championships and a seventh-place showing at the National Collegiate Rowing Championships.

He was a member of the Australian National Rowing Team in 1989 and a member of the Monash University's winning varsity eight crew at the Australian Collegiate Rowing Championships in 1989.

GW crew is headquartered at Thompson Boat Center on the Potomac River. The GW women's crews compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
