Virginia Tech Defeats Swimming and Diving Teams

On the men's side, senior Tim Champney (Seminole, FL/Cypress Lake) finished first in two individual events, including a 1:52.83 in the 200-y backstroke. Junior Wes Teter (Farmer's Branch, TX/RL Turner High) grabbed two first place finishes in the 100-y and 200-y freestyles. Senior Juan Bocanegra (Miami, FL/Gulliver Prep Academy) claimed first place in the 200-y IM. The men won both the 400-y freestyle relay and the 400-y medley relay.
Sophomore Nell Friar (Oak Ridge, TN/Oak Ridge High) won the 200-y backstroke in a time of 2:22.55 on the women's side. Senior Jennifer Skinner (Liberty, MO/Liberty) claimed first place in the 500-y free and second place in the 1000-y free. Junior Lynne McCormick (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) placed second in the diving events for the women.
GW's next meet is Saturday as La Salle comes to Smith Center beginning at 11 a.m.
