Robert Fleming

Robert (Bus) Fleming ('41) earned three letters in men's tennis, playing the No. 2 spot on the team. He also played golf (not then recognized as a varsity sport at GW) and baseball. Fleming was president of his senior class at GW.
After graduation, Fleming joined the U.S. Navy in World War II and later worked as a Washington representative for Pan American World Airways until 1948. He then worked at Folger Nolan Fleming Douglas, Inc., as an investment banker.
Fleming, who died in 2003, was married to Martha, also a GW alum. They had three children, Margaret, Robert II and Bruce.
